Outdoor fun in the snow is a famous family activity, also for local people in the arctic, especially when Easter time arrives and warm spring sun in shining.

 

The climate in in Arctic is getting warm and the sun is shining, the dark period of the year is now changing into a light period. The days are getting longer and at the summertime it never gets dark in the Arctic. The Easter is for many a celebration and a very good opportunity to spend time with their family. Often it´s outdoor activities that is highest on family to-do lists.

 

Easter festival

In the culture of Sami´s the Eastern festival is number one happening each year. The Sami´s in Kautokeino has the largest eastern festival in Norway, probably in the whole Scandinavia, and now you can experience this festival with us. Our guide is from the city of Kautokeino and will in the eastern take families and individuals on a trip of their lifetime.

 

Our adventure

We will start our trip from the Paris of the North (Tromso) and continue the trip with Hurtigruten to Skjervoy, where a bus will be waiting for us. Our bus will transport us to our first checkpoint, where we will stay the night. After eating breakfast the second day we start with snowmobiles over the mountain plateau to Kautokeino, it´s a breath taking adventure with amazing scenery.

In Kautokeino we will follow the Easter festival program. There are daily concerts, plus special arrangements like fishing contest. World competition Reindeer sledding, Sami gran prix song and yoik contest, Snowmobile cross and much more.

We start from Tromsø 3rd of April with Hurtigruten, stay in Kautokeino 4th to 8th of April, then return to Tromsø with Hurtigruten 9th of April. You will take the flight to Tromsø early 3rd of April and return 10th of April, and you need to have one night accommodation in Tromsø from 9th to 10th of April.
